Ringworld is in two series of 4 and 5 books The other is a universe that spans from billions of years ago to the far future.

One is insane madness and comedy in an impossible world with Elephants and Space Turtles. Plus of course you've got the 15 or more books of the Man-Kzin wars novels and compilations written by Larry Niven and others which put more richness into the entire universe. They all to some degree or another interlock to form a single in-series universe - some loosely - others very tightly. The thing is that while Discworld (Terry Pratchett's masterpiece series) is a lot of books (40+) you also have to put the Ringworld series (4 books) (and the 5 Fleet of Worlds books) into the total context of all the books of the Known Space Series. One of my first books from a library was Ringworld Engineers (yes the sequel but I didn't know at the time) and I had the pleasure of the Discworld during my university years after finding CoM at the University bookshop in 1985. I have read both the Discworld and Ringworld series almost every known space book and others from Larry such as his The State books the Magic Goes Away books Dream Park series and the Heorot/Destiny's Road series.
